Portimao
Portimão is the second city in the Algarve after Faro, the capital of "Barlavento".
Portimão is a port city in the Algarve in southern Portugal, visited by some cruises, which can be seen near Praia da Rocha. It is known for its historic center, lively marina and proximity to several beaches other than the famous Praia da Rocha Beach. Today, Portimão is the third national port (after Lisbon and Funchal) to receive more cruise ship passengers, strengthening quality tourism in an area characterized by mass tourism.
In recent years, the mouth of the Portimao River (Arade River) has been the scene of important events. It is also the location of the Portuguese race of the International Championship of Formula 1 in Motonáutica. Portimão is now a reference municipality in the Algarve.
